This is one of the best southern cooking places I've been too since we moved back down south.  It seems it should go without saying, but because of the one star reviews I'll just say it anyway, if you don't like southern cooking or you're looking for the healthiest of meal options, go somewhere else!  However, if you appreciate good southern cooking, read on...

    Only cons:
    - Location is a bit hard to find
    - Interior design could use some upgrades, but again, this is a southern cooking place, not the Ritz
    - Hamburger steak was just ok. I wouldn't get it again.

    Pros: (far outweigh the cons!)
    - the cornbread (top notch and homemade!)
    - the service (friendly and prompt)
    - the prices ($8 for meat and 3 sides)
    - kids eat for $1 on Wednesdays!
    - the grilled chicken - SO good!
    - the Calabash chicken dipped in honey (my picky dad said it was the best chicken he has ever eaten)
    - the green beans (Delish)
    - the grilled salmon
    - the grilled zucchini and squash (so good! Seasonal item)
    - the beans
    - the side salad (crisp and good)
    - they sell corn nuggets (enough said)

This will definitely be a repeat for us, especially on kids' night! We have a high standard for taste, and this restaurant met the mark.

My family has been asking me to give this place a try for years and I've avoided it as traditional Southern meat and three is not usually my cup o' tea.  Since we find ourselves visiting the same places most Wednesday nights, I relented and decided to give Harvey's a try.  The staff could not have been more friendly or accommodating.  We were given a large table in and brought drinks and bread while we waited on the rest of our party to arrive.

I ordered the Blazing Buffalo Salad, and while it was Buffalo like, it was certainly not blazing.  The weirdest thing to me were the pickles in the salad, not cucumbers, but pickle slices.  I'm not sure I've ever seen that before, but it stuck me as bizarre.  The dressing was not great, but I placed it on the salad before giving it a try so I was in the for the long haul.

To be fair, this strikes me as a meat and three place.  Perhaps if I'd stuck to a meat and three I would have had a more enjoyable eating experience, but as I don't want my blood sugar to be 300+ I just had the salad.  I did try a couple of pieces of the fried okra but I found them to be lacking as well, so I'm not sure the meat and three route would have been any better.  The wife and kids disliked their meals as well so I doubt we'll be back.  The place is always packed on Sunday's so they must be doing something right, it just isn't for us.

I was craving a good meat and three. I got the meat and three, but the good part was not there. Flavorless, no seasoning canned veggies and stale rolls out of a package. I was very disappointed as this place is close to my house, but I won't be back.

This is my favorite meat and veggie place. No matter how busy they are, customers gets seated quickly. Staff always friendly and food always fresh. Always make sure everything is good and drinks filled. Always love coming here.

Oh my goodness, I have found a great meat-n-three at last!  I have twice been to Harvey's for dinner and have been impressed on both occasions.  The food is tasty, the prices are ridiculously cheap, and the service has been fantastic both times.  Harvey's is definitely the kind of place to go for some down-home Southern cookin'!

I will admit that healthy options are scarce on this menu.  I am not sure if they have gluten-free or vegetarian options.  However, if you're looking for comfort food, they have it in spades!  They have a regular menu to select from and then a daily meats and side items menu as well.  They update their Facebook page daily with the daily selections.  They also have a Friday Fish Fry each week.  Most of their dinners are $10 or less, with the daily "meat and three" option at $7.50 (or you can choose only one or two sides for a little less money).  For that price, it is definitely a lot of food.  The two of us have eaten here for less than $20.

The first time we came was on Friday Fish Fry night, which was flippin' awesome.  I had their Alaskan whitefish dinner, which came with hush puppies, slaw, and fries.   Their hushpuppies are AMAZING.  They do something to make them extra crispy on the outside, but the inside is perfectly soft and seasoned.  Their fries and fish were both excellent as well.  The coleslaw is vinegar-based, which is probably the only thing that was just ok (I prefer the creamy kind).  I also ordered sweet tea, which was refreshing because it was not overly sweet.  My partner got some Calabash shrimp and enjoyed that as well.  Their batter for it was very light, crispy, and not overly salty.  Our second visit we decided to try to go with a meat and three.  I ordered the country fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, fried squash, and the daily dessert, which was a strawberry shortcake.  The country fried steak had a great crispy batter, and the white gravy was SO GOOD.  The fried squash had the same batter as the Calabash items, which was delicious.  My partner ordered the Calabash chicken and steamed cabbage.  Everything was really great and well portioned.  We also got to choose a bread to go with it, which we both chose their cheddar biscuits.  Hands-down these are the best cheddar biscuits (they put the ones at Bojangles to shame!).

In case you can't tell, I am in love with this place.  It may not be the healthiest option in town, but the food is tasty and the prices are cheap.
